Freedom!

Not that anyone's noticed, because I've often gone longer than this without posting, but...I'm "on vacation!" I had my last day at my job last Friday and don't start my new job until this coming Monday. My old job was great, but it was time for this change.

It feels weird being...well, as The Dude puts it, "unemployed." Not that my last job was so stressful or that I took work home often, but still, it's so freeing to have no work obligations hanging over my head, even if just for a week. My new job will have even less opportunity for taking work home; it's with the government, where they believe strongly in a 9-to-5 work day. At least, this particular office does -- this was impressed upon me emphatically at my interview. So I'm not worried about being stressed out. I'm a little nervous about getting my bearings, but that's par for the course. I'm more nervous about having to wake up early. That was one of the best things about my last job.

Unfortunately, my week off is marred by a cold. Fingers crossed that it goes away tomorrow! I have plans for Friday night and the weekend, and would like to be reasonably clearheaded for my first day of work. Of course, if I were, that might be misleading.
